With a diverse career and broad set of insights and experience gained over more than three decades, Christine McLoughlin AM has been a prominent figure in leadership and governance within some of Australia's largest and most regulated industries, while also playing a significant role in the fields of education, tourism, events and sporting sectors.

Christine takes a keen interest in staying across emerging trends and challenges that impact both business and society and is at the forefront in helping organisations navigate contemporary issues such as cyber risk, the use of AI, and the transition to a net zero future. She has a particular passion for enhancing community inclusion through sport and empowering people through education.

Having served as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of ASX 50 companies spanning financial services, health insurance, resources, infrastructure and telecommunications, Christine has guided numerous companies through significant periods of change and innovation.

As Chairman of Suncorp Group Limited, Christine has been instrumental in leading the company's strategic approach to climate change and driving an influential advocacy agenda focussed on building greater community resilience to extreme weather.

In her role as a Director at Cochlear Limited, Christine has contributed to the company's mission of developing leading-edge hearing technologies. Her efforts have played a part in bolstering Cochlear's global impact and improving the lives of people with hearing impairments around the world.

Christine has long been an active leader in the philanthropic sector. As the first in her family to attend university, Christine has a personal connection to the transformative power of education. She has served as the Deputy Chairman of the Smith Family and recently retired from her position as the Chancellor of the University of Wollongong, where she steered that institution through the global pandemic.

In 2022, Christine received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Australian Event Awards for her significant contributions to the events, tourism, and sports sectors in Australia. Recognised for her role as co-founder and Chairman of the Minerva Network, Christine has been instrumental in supporting and mentoring professional women athletes across Australia on a pro bono basis. Additionally, as the former Chairman of Destination NSW and Venues NSW, she played a pivotal role in implementing the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2030 and in launching the "Feel New" destination brand.

Christine’s other previous directorships include positions at the McGrath Foundation, nib holdings limited, Whitehaven Coal Limited, Spark Infrastructure, the Australian Nuclear Science & Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and Victoria’s Transport Accident Commission. Her executive career included leadership roles in financial services and telecommunications sectors in ASX Top 20 Companies.

In 2021, Christine was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for her services to business, the not-for-profit sector and women. Christine is also a proud member of Chief Executive Women and a former Telstra Businesswomen of the Year.
